Lower Loudoun Boys Football League is sad to announce that we have lost a very dear member of our football family. Terry Tretick passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017. Coach Tretick was part of LLBFL as the Head Coach of the Lions when he retired after spending over 30 years dedicated to not only teaching his players how to play football, but also giving them the confidence to succeed and taught them to have respect for others. Terry gave so much and expected nothing in return.
Terry was very well known by many as “Grumpy”. He had a unique personality and you could always count on him giving you his honest opinion. Terry was involved with LLBFL as a coach or board member since 1969. He loved football and he loved the players. He had a way of bringing out the best in every player he coached. Terry was a coach that believed that any child, no matter what their experience could become a great football player. No matter if they won or lost he would tell his players they did a great job and would praise them for hanging tough through a hard game.
When he was not on the practice or game field, you could find him on a tractor cutting grass at Bill Allen Field or perhaps fixing an electrical issue or even working in our snack bar. He knew everything there was to know about our facility and helped build what you see at our field today. Even after his retirement from the league, anytime we had a problem or issue at the field that we could not solve, Terry was our go to person.
Over the years, Terry and his wife Rita along with many of his children volunteered countless hours to support our football and cheer programs. Terry was definitely one of a kind and the legacy that he leaves behind will be remembered by thousands of players that he coached and by even more parents, board members, coaches and friends. We will miss you Terry Tretick, our coach, mentor and friend.
